Architect / Engineer Article 25 Kabul, Afghanistan

Article 25 is an NGO team of contruction professionals designing built solutions in post-disaster and post-war locations throughout the world. Projects include:

- Evaluation of school construction in Afghanistan for the government of Afghanistan.
- Post-earthquake school reconstruction, Haiti.
- Earthquake resistant housing construction, Pakistan.
- Conservation based masterplanning in the Gola Forest, Eastern Sierra Leone.
- Prototype child friendly school, Sierra Leone.

ROLE:

- Architect / Engineer / Project Manager required to assist Article 25's team in Kabul, Afghanistan.
- Working across Article 25 offices, government departments and NGOs to promote best practice.
- Providing leadership and advice in a programme requiring the following experience.

EXPERIENCE:

- Procurement. Understanding of the technical, financial and evaluation processes of tendering construction projects.
- Team management. Experience of leading teams and understanding the roles and responsibilities of different disciplines.
- Techinical background in design and construction, particularly school construction, earthquake resistance and quality control.
- Strong communication skills to effectively promote best practice among team members and other agencies.
- Experience of large scale or government projects advantageous.

REQUIREMENTS:

- Contract Administration qualification and experience.
- English speaking.
- Dari and Pashto advantageous but not essential.
- Experience working in Afghanistan and in International Development essential.
- Strong observational skills in working with contract documents and undertaking site inspections.
- Effective communicator / educator.

INFORMATION:

- Duration: 12 months minimum.
- Salary: Dependent on experience.
