Summary:

WWB seeks a firm to provide audit and tax services for Women World Banking in accordance with IRS and generally accepted auditing standards in the United States of America. The Women’s World Banking’s audit scope will be primarily comprised of two not-for-profit organizations: Stichting To Promote Women’s World Banking (SWWB) a 501(c)(4) and Friends of WWB/USA, Inc. (FWWB) a 501(c)(3) as well as a potential third, for-profit entity, Women’s Asset Management (WAM) functionally operating as the management company of an Investment Fund launched in February 2012.

About Women’s World Banking:

WWB’s mission is to expand the economic assets, participation and power of low-income women and their households by helping them access financial services, knowledge and markets.

Objectives & Responsibilities:

The auditor shall determine whether:

• The financial statements of WWB present fairly its financial position and the results of its financial operations in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles

• WWB has an internal control structure and other control systems to provide reasonable assurance that it is managing funds in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and grant documents that may have a material impact on the financial statements

• WWB has complied with applicable laws, regulations, and grant documents that may have a material impact on the financial statements including interpretations of UPMIFA and NYPMIFA

• WWB has established and adhered to an appropriate system for the procurement, award, and oversight of contracts with subcontractors which contains acceptable standards for ensuring accountability

• The auditor shall prepare the final audit reports, to include, but not limited to, Statement of Financial Position, Statement of Activities,and Statement of Cash Flow, along with any other required notes and schedules

• The Auditor shall deliver a presentation to the audit committee at the conclusion of the audit

• The Auditor should submit a management letter including management’s response with each audit.

• In connection with the audit of the financial statements, the Auditor shall also prepare and complete Form 990, Tax Return of Organization 

• Exempt from Income Tax and present the return to WWB’s audit committee at Management’s request

• The Auditor shall ensure that the engagement meets all necessary AICPA Standards.

Duration of Consultancy:
We are looking for a 3 year engagement. At the end of the 3 years we will consider extending the engagement or releasing a new RFP

Location of Work:
The audit shall take place at WWB’s office located in New York, NY.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Must have thorough knowledge NYPMIFA and UPMIFA
• Must have extensive experience in auditing non-profit organizations,both 501(c)3 and 501(c)4
• Experience with international organizations is preferred
• Experience in dealing with for-profit related entities

a. A breakdown of cost for audit and tax prep services for SWWB and FWWB of which past audits and tax returns are available on WWB’s website under governance
b. A separate breakdown for audit and tax services for WAM which is anticipated to have less than $2 million in operating expenses in Fiscal Year 12, its first year in operation.
(2) Anticipated timeline of engagement
(3) Proposal of work product
(4) Project team roles and responsibilities for the project
(5) Two references of similar size and complexity to WWB
(6) A copy of the firm’s most recent peer review report and any related letter of comments
