Philips Research Asia - Shanghai (PRA-S) has been established in Shanghai since the year 2000. Our focus is on breakthrough innovation, aimed at generating new business for Philips, and to support existing business. Working with industrial and academic partners, we speed up innovation and help create technologies that really matter and get adopted. We call this Open Innovation. PRA-S currently has over 100 research scientists working in the fields of Healthcare, Lifestyle Applications, and Lighting.
As PRA-S continues to grow, we are constantly looking for dynamic, highly energized people to join and grow with PRA-S.
Your Responsibilities:
  • Play an active role in the project team by contributing creative ideas aimed at designing and developing healthcare IT solutions (e.g. CDS, EMR, Tele-medicine systems, etc.) for hospitals to help enhance their efficiency and the quality of their healthcare service. Creative ideas should result in patents that protect potential future expansion of our healthcare business.
  • Design and implement solutions, in collaboration with hospitals.
  • Test your solutions in a hospital setting.
  • Be up-to-date, and understand, existing literature in specific area assigned to you. Ensure creative ideas are supported/build on existing literature. Literature reviews and outcome of experiments to be produced by candidate are made available to the Philips community in the form of Technical Reports.
  • Actively collaborate with colleagues in Philips that are working in related fields and assist your colleagues, both in China and abroad, by sharing/discussing your insights.
Major Challenges
  • Carry out industrial research in clinical informatics and clinical decision support, enlarging relevant knowledge and bringing-in new knowledge.
  • Pro-actively make knowledge available for operational use within Philips to contribute to successful transfers of research results to the businesses.
  • Keep abreast of technical, application and market developments in the relevant technological and industrial areas, showing interest in the business aspects.
  • Contribute pro-actively to a creative and inspiring working environment.
More specifically:
  • Defining, modelling, realizing, monitoring and analyzing clinical workflows.
  • Or designing and developing clinical decision support (CDS) systems or tools for clinical professionals.
  • Clinical validation of the developed solutions in forms of the validation though the clinical practice and also clinical trials. Practical experience in setting up or conducting a clinical trial is an added value.
  • Modelling data warehouse and data mart, defining and implementing ETL process for business intelligent in clinical domain.
  • Defining and implementing algorithm for data mining.
Your Profile:
Education:
  • Master degree or PhD in Clinical informatics or Computer Science. The degree should be supported by publications in renowned international journals
Experience:
  • Working with medical professionals or developing medical information systems
  • Have experience on design, coding and testing for IT products
  • Having knowledge and understanding of Clinical informatics e.g. (HIS/RIS/LIS/CDSS/PACS/EMR, HL7/DICOM/CDA/IHE)
  • Having experience on clinical workflows or clinical decision support are preferred
  • Having experience on data analytics and business intelligent are mandatory. Data analytics on healthcare industry is preferred.
  • Having experience on data mining for healthcare is preferred
Competency and Skills:

  • Positive mindset
  • Strong programming skills (OOP, web-based programming and database)
  • Proficient in at least one of the following methodologies: data mining, statistical methods, expert systems or machining learning
  • Expertise on multi-dimensional and OLAP Cubes
  • Strong experiences on data analytics tools are preferred, e.g. (SPSS, SQL Server, Oracle, Cognos and etc.)
