FedEx Express now requires an EMEA Regulatory Legal Counsel to be based at the regional headquarters in Brussels. Reporting to the Managing Director for Legal and Regulatory Affairs, the role will be broad ranging and include the following:
  • Follow up on all regulatory developments affecting or potentially affecting the operation of the enterprise and its strategic plans;
  • Counsel the various business functions towards the development of implementation programs;
  • Advocate the positions of the enterprise in trade associations and, as needed, before national, European or other authorities;
  • Coordinate the company’s regulatory and public affairs programs throughout the EU and, as necessary, throughout EMEA;
  • Develop and maintain a network both within and outside the enterprise in function of the responsibilities;
  • Work closely with the EMEA legal team and provide support where needed.
You hold a law degree (preferably from a European jurisdiction) and ideally you will have gained at least 7 years of relevant professional experience as In-house Counsel, Private Attorney or in a public affairs capacity and have extensive knowledge and expertise in the international and EU regulatory framework for aviation (a knowledge of the regulatory framework for land transport is a plus). In addition, FedEx expects the candidate to have the ability to work on her/his own initiative, to be a strategic thinker and to have excellent interpersonal skills.
