KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Clinical Responsibilities

·         In addition to the responsibilities of a registered nurse, the following activities are unique to this position:
·         Responsible for total patient care, including medication, orders and treatments.
·         Practices economical use of equipment and supplies, informs proper authority of discrepancies.
·         Participates in or initiates CPR and Codes when necessary.
·         Serves on Special Nursing Committee when requested.

Professional Development
·         Maintain the required number of credit hours for continuous medical education (CME) for both The Karen Hospital and the nursing council of Kenya annually
·         Is required to participate in programmes of in service training.
·         Must be ACLS/BLS certified

SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES
·         High standard of nursing practice
·         Effective communication with doctors, patients and their relatives and all other Hospital Departments and the public.
·         Effective control of resources.
·         Adheres to the infection prevention measures as per The Karen Hospital standards.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Education qualifications required

·         Diploma or Degree of an accredited School of Nursing KRN/KRCHN
·         Post Basic Training in Critical Care Nursing
·         Any other appropriate diploma or degree will be an added advantage.
·         Customer Care Training
·         ATLS training will be an added advantage
