Malaria Consortium External Communications Intern; Advocacy Intern

Malaria Consortium’s External Communications team, based in London, is seeking assistance with its rapidly expanding communications and advocacy work. The candidate must have a strong interest in one or both of these disciplines, as well as competence in the use of the internet for research and social media engagement. In addition to a range of research, writing and supporting tasks, the candidate must be prepared to assist with administrative tasks for the team.

Genuinely excited by the opportunity to work for a busy and rapidly growing international health NGO, the interns should be prepared to take on the many and varied tasks that arise quickly and creatively.

External Communications Intern:
The successful candidate will work broadly across Malaria Consortium’s External Communications activities, providing support for event organisation, drafting web copy, monitoring and cataloguing l media coverage, editing reports, providing desk-based research, maintaining databases and providing general support to the team. This role would suit someone that is interested in building a career in communications, is an excellent writer/editor and can come up with creative and original ideas to support the organisation’s external communications efforts.

Advocacy Intern:
The successful candidate will work primarily with the Senior Communications Manager, supporting their work to represent the organisation to external stakeholders within Parliament, DFID and civil society networks. The candidate must have a strong interest in politics (particularly the UK) as well as a good knowledge of international development and/or public health issues. This role would suit someone that is interested in policy issues, is a confident communicator, excellent writer and willing to multi-task.
Internship details: Both positions are for 5 days a week however, this is negotiable. Each internship will last for a period of 3 months and can be renewed for a further 3 months. Both positions are voluntary. Lunch and reasonable travel expenses are covered.
