PROGRAM ASSOCIATE/WOMEN'S HUMAN RIGHTS

Women's Learning Partnership (WLP), a partnership of twenty autonomous organizations primarily in Muslim-majority countries, trains and supports women leaders and advocates for a just, peaceful world. WLP creates culturally-specific leadership trainings on democratic participation and partners with local organizations to help women gain the skills they need to fulfill greater leadership roles at the family, community and national level. Over the past decade, WLP's programs and training materials, published in twenty languages, have reached tens of thousands of women in over forty countries, strengthening local organizations to become self-sustaining and to power women's movements across the globe.
Job Description: The Program Associate is based at the WLP liaison office in Bethesda, Maryland. The position will support three key areas of WLP’s work: (1) partner programs and evaluation, (2) planning and coordinating WLP’s e-learning programs (3), and managing WLP’s social media outreach through Twitter, Facebook, and other media.

Responsibilities include:
  • Liaise with select WLP partner organizations and assist with coordinating the implementation and evaluation of grassroots training workshops, and training of trainer institutes.
  • Write reports for funders and partners based on program results from the field and assist with writing proposals.
  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate WLP’s e-courses on the online learning portal, which will include working with partner organizations, facilitators of e-courses, and portal administrators.
  • Maximize WLP's online presence through social networks such as Facebook and Twitter and the online portal; intensive outreach to web-based publications; promotion on key gender and development websites, and assist with the execution of innovative web-based campaigns for WLP's human rights advocacy program.
  • Assist the development of e-newsletters, listservs, webcasts, and video-conferencing among WLP partners.
Preferred Skills:  Familiarity with international development, women’s rights, politics, and cultures in Africa, Asia, or the Middle East.  Foreign language skills (Arabic, French, Spanish, or Russian preferred).

Qualifications


Qualifications: Commitment and dedication to women's empowerment. Masters degree. Minimum 5 years working in the non-profit sector, with at least 2-3 years working with online learning platforms.  Excellent writing skills and ability to communicate with individuals from diverse backgrounds.  Proficiency with computers/word processing. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple tasks and work under pressure.
