The post holder will be primarily responsible for covering news for network audiences on
all the BBC's flagship news programmes such as the One, Six and Ten
O'Clock News, Radio Five Live, the News Channel, Radio Four's “Today”
and UK News Online. The Wales network bureau also contributes to BBC Wales output.
Role
Broadcast
journalists provide an essential role within UK Newsgathering, based in
various newsrooms around the UK. They are the eyes and ears of
Newsgathering. Technically proficient, they are able to collect audio,
video and conduct interviews for all outlets as well as keeping across
events happening across their patch. They can also be assigned to
stories outside their immediate area when the demand merits it.
This position is to work as part of the Wales Network bureau covering a busy news patch where demand from programmes is high.
Requirements
Candidates
must have good production skills and should have an aptitude to work
with multi-media technology. You will produce the coverage of breaking
news and diary events.
You will be expected to work collaboratively with BBC Wales output, sharing resources when necessary.
The
hours are irregular, involving early mornings, late nights and weekends
when required and the job involves a considerable amount of travel
around the country.
