Open Pit Technicial Services Superintendent United States-Nevada-Cortez
GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION
Responsibilities include: The Open Pit Technical Services Superintendent is a member of the Senior Leadership team at a large and challenging open pit that is currently expanding in size with respect to equipment and mined tons. As a member of the site leadership team, active participation in the management of the operation is required to ensure that health and safety, environmental, production, cost and cash flow targets are achieved. This position includes responsibility for strategic, long and short range mine planning, geotechnical and hydrological engineering as well as ore control and geology. The Technical Services Superintendent will manage 48 professionals including surveyors, geologists and engineers which provide technical support for the 400,000 + tpd open pit operation. This position will also coordinate directly with the other Cortez Divisions as well as other Barrick Technical Services groups in the region. Other duties as assigned.
SELECTION CRITERIA
BASIC REQUIREMENTS: To be considered for this job, applicants must meet these basic requirements:
• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Geology or related degree required
• Ten (10) years mining experience in progressive supervisory or technical roles required
• Strong leadership skills, excellent communication skills, risk analysis, problem solving and analytical skills required
• Excellent computer skills including experience with Microsoft Office including MS Excel, MS Word, MS Project, MS Outlook required
• Familiarity and/or experience with Oracle preferred
• Experience in engineering software (AutoCAD, Whittle) required
• Capability to lead, mentor, and develop technical staff required
• Competence in mine economics, evaluation techniques, and budgeting for mine operations required
• Two (2) years experience in a project management role preferred
• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing required
• Proven safe work record required
