Program Officer WPP - Women Peacemakers Program The Hague, Netherlands


The Women Peacemakers Program (WPP) started in 1997 as a program to support women’s peacemaking initiatives and to highlight the importance of gender-sensitive peacebuilding. Nonviolent capacity building is at the heart of WPP’s work (WPP Training of Trainers), as well as the production of knowledge and sharing of lessons learned through the organizing of consultation meetings with peace activists, and via WPP publications. WPP has recently grown into an independent organization and moved office to The Hague. We are currently recruiting a third staff member to join the WPP team. 

Position: WPP Program Officer, 0.8 Fte
Location: The Hague, The Netherlands

The WPP is looking for a hands-on, experienced and enthusiastic colleague to join the small but dynamic team in The Hague. The WPP Program Officer will be responsible for:
  • Coordination of, writing for, and editing of WPP publications such as the monthly newsletter Cross the Lines, the WPP May 24 Pack, and WPP activity reports;
  • Co-ordination of and regular communication with the WPP network membership (incl. via social media);
  • Supporting the WPP team in fundraising (proposal writing), maintaining donor relations, and donor reporting;
  • Representing the WPP in national and international meetings, networks, and working groups;
  • Coordinating one public WPP event per year/co-organizing public activities with WPP partners;
  • Overseeing cooperation with third parties, volunteers and interns responsible for communication tasks.

Skills and qualifications

  • Relevant education (e.g. degree in Communication Studies, Women’s Studies, International Development Studies, etc.);
  • Minimum of four years relevant work experience (international) and expertise;
  • Demonstrated experience with (inter)national multi-stakeholder cooperation (policy makers/ CSO representatives/activists), effective and strategic communicator;
  • Knowledge of and experience with social media (including campaigning);
  • Knowledge of and experience with monitoring and evaluation;
  • Knowledge of/affinity with active nonviolence;
  • Excellent communication and writing skills in English and Dutch;
  • Strong team mentality and pro-active self-starter;
  • Accurate worker, able to make deadlines;
  • Flexible;
  • Able to critically self-reflect;
  • Culturally sensitive;
  • Willing to travel internationally.

Preferable

  • Experience as a trainer and/or willingness to learn;
  • Experience in working with budgets;
  • Working knowledge of Arabic and/or Spanish.
The position concerns a 0.8 Fte appointment (30 hours per week). 
Salary range: Between 10.0 and 10.4 (CAO Welzijn), depending on qualifications and experience.
