You will be liaising with media, developing the capacities of country offices in media and comms, and contributing to social change in Latin America and the Caribbean.
 
The role
The regional Communication and Campaign team leads the campaigns work in its communication, research and advocacy activities in the LAC Region. The Media and Communications coordinator works together with the team to lead media work in the region, supporting country offices when necessary, and playing a key role in media activities for the Oxfam International Regional Economic Justice Campaign Team. You will be responsible for the implementation of a regional media and communications strategy, including in times of emergency. Equally, you will help to build capacity of programme/campaigns/humanitarian staff and partners on media and communications skills and methodologies; providing guidance and training as appropriate, at both country and regional level. You will also supervise media and communications work of Oxfam’s regional media officers and act as the region’s media and communications focal point for Oxfam House (HQ).
 
What we’re looking for
Significant experience in communications and media roles, previous experience in designing and implementing media plans plus knowledge of and experience in managing digital media campaigns/activities are essential. Knowledge and experience of working in humanitarian emergencies, you also have some knowledge and experience of working in NGOs and/or international development. Proven initiative and the ability to work independently under pressure are important, together with proven organizational skills to plan and prioritise work to meet deadlines. A good network of media contacts in the region is also important. Political sensitivity and awareness to positively portray Oxfam’s aims and views whilst protecting our ongoing reputation and security of our staff will be key to your success.
Qualified to degree-level, or ideally Masters-level, you will be fluent in English and Spanish (oral and written), while Portuguese and/or French would be an advantage.
