TECHNOLOGY R&D MANAGER

Group for the Environment, Renewable Energy and Solidarity (GERES) is a French NGO. Established and active in Cambodia for 20 years, GERES’ mission in Cambodia is to support: “POPULATIONS TAKE OWNERSHIP OF ACHIEVING SUSTAINABLE MANAGEMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES IN THEIR LANDSCAPE AND MAKE INFORMED DECISIONS THAT LEAD TO ACCESS TO RENEWABLE ENERGY, MITIGATION OF, AND ADAPTATION TO CLIMATE CHANGE AND IMPROVED LIVELIHOODS” Full time posts such as the one described below are positioned in the organizational chart and in the position scale provided separately and governed by the Internal Staff Rules and Regulations and the specific requirements laid out in the Employment Contract.

GERES Cambodia is now seeking qualified candidates to fill the position of TechRD (Technology R&D) Manager based in Kompong Chhnang province (Cambodia), with frequent travels to Phnom Penh. Main Responsibilities: The TechRD Manager works under the supervision of the Development Director and supervises the TechRD team (3 persons). S/he is the designated focal point for the overall direction, coordination, implementation, execution, control and completion of all ongoing TechRD project(s) ensuring consistency with GERES Cambodia’s strategy, commitments and goals. S/he will be specifically responsible for: • Development of GERES expertise in terms of manufacturing process and materials issues linked with improved biomass equipments (clay mixing, moulding, refractory properties, machineries, kilns & clay drying technology, production organisation, quality assurance...) to be able to support local entrepreneurs to upgrade their production (productivity, quality, standard...). Dedicated time: ¾ working time • Coordination, management and quality assurance of TechRD activities (as mentioned above), covering: o Initiation, implementation, monitoring, timely reporting and evaluation and closure for the GERES Cambodia office. o Preparation of detailed work planning, staff management, drafting and following up of the TechRD budget. o Representation activities to ensure good coordination of all activities with client communities and partners. Dedicated time: ¼ working time Requirements: • Bachelor degree in Engineering (Materials, Industrial/Production, Energy…) or equivalent • 2 years in ceramic industry or related • Experience in a developing country an asset • Strong team management and leadership • Familiar with research and development methodologies • Proficient in project/program management • MS Office + proficient technical drawing • Good verbal and written communication skills in English • Critical thinking and problem solving skills • Able to operate independently (initiative, research skills, networking) • Team player with capacity to work in a multicultural environment

Conditions: Employment contract/Two (2) years/Salary and benefits according to GERES policy.
