Associate Director, Teacher Training

Description
Overview:

We are looking for an Associate Director of Teacher Training – someone with proven success of driving big achievement gains for students.

As Associate Director of Teacher Training, you will be part of a fast-moving team responsible for designing the structure and content of our training program to ensure that all teachers can advance student learning by using Bridge International Academies’ detailed instructional systems and processes. You will develop scope and sequence as well as training scripts for initial induction and ongoing professional development. You will also work closely with those in the field and with curriculum and data teams to identify specific implementation challenges and to engage in processes of continual improvement.

This role offers a unique opportunity to design training that will impact thousands of teachers and hundreds of thousands of children across the world.

It's easiest to describe who we've already hired:
Sean is math director. He taught in Teach For America, coached in the Match Teacher Residency, has worked in a high-poverty district on the intersection of coaching and curriculum.

Alex is early childhood director. He taught at KIPP, worked as a coach for TFA and then in strategy for their national office, and has also worked in a high-poverty district, mostly on the needs of English Language Learners.

Requirements:

A successful candidate will be a former teacher or leader who thinks in terms of large-scale systems and support for new teachers. You will need to be able to conceive and create training modules so that a novice teacher, with only a high school education, in an informal settlement or rural area, can learn to become a highly successful educator, capable of advancing learning for each of 50 pupils in his or her classroom. This will require the ability to listen to feedback and continually improve systems and support over time.

In addition, the Associate Director of Teacher Training must:
Be a self-starter who thinks three and four steps ahead.
Be hard working, with the tenacity to plow through challenges
Be results-oriented, driven by the data that will allow us to know what is working and what isn’t working for kids.
Be humble, seeking out feedback, internalizing it, and using it to get better.

The Associate Director of Teacher Training will be based in Boston, with some travel to Kenya and future Bridge expansion sites.
