Overview:We are looking for an Assistant Director of Teacher Recruitment and Selection – to help create a data driven process for selecting teachers in Kenya.
As Assistant Director of Teacher Recruitment and Selection, you will be part of a fast-moving team responsible for designing the structure of our teacher recruitment and selection process to ensure that all teachers can advance student learning using Bridge International Academies’ detailed instructional systems and processes. You will develop the criteria for teacher selection and the measurement system to track which characteristics best predict high teacher performance and retention. You will also work closely with those in the field and with curriculum and data teams to identify specific implementation challenges and to engage in processes of continual improvement.
This role offers a unique opportunity to design recruitment that will impact thousands of teachers and hundreds of thousands of children across the world.
Requirements:
A successful candidate will be likely have a background in education who thinks in terms of large-scale systems and support for new teachers. You will need to be able to conceive and create screening mechanisms that select candidates with only a high school education in an informal settlement or rural area who can learn to become a highly successful educator, capable of advancing learning for each of 50 pupils in his or her classroom. This will require the ability to listen to feedback and continually improve systems and support over time.
In addition, the Assistant Director of Teacher Recruitment and Selection must:

Be results-oriented, driven by the data that will allow us to know what is working and what isn’t working for kids.
Be humble, seeking out feedback, internalizing it, and using it to get better.
The Assistant Director of Teacher Recruitment and Selection will be based in Boston, with some travel to Kenya and future Bridge expansion sites.
