The opportunity
 
We are looking for an Environmental Advisor, based at our coal operation, Bengalla, to provide advice and guidance on environmental matters relevant to the operation including compliance with legislation and other permits.
 
Located 4km south west of Muswellbrook in the Hunter Valley region in New South Wales, Bengalla supplies high quality thermal coal for export markets. The surrounding region offers an attractive lifestyle which includes agriculture, wine trails and gourmet food which complement the regions' natural beauty.

What the role entails
 
This position is a great opportunity for an enthusiastic and highly ambitious individual seeking new challenges. Residentially based in Muswellbrook (Monday to Friday roster) and reporting to the Specialist Environment, you will be:
  • Managing regulatory approvals for Bengalla Mine and associated permits in a timely manner
  • Delivering environmental projects in a timely and cost effective manner
  • Assisting with environmental incident investigations and remediation
  • Promoting environmental awareness across site
What you will need for this role
 
To succeed in this exciting and challenging role, you will have:
  • A relevant degree in a similar field
  • Knowledge of state, federal or other appropriate mining regulations
  • An understanding of Environmental sampling and quality control
  • The ability to liaise with government agencies and the community
Experience in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) applications and ISO14001 Environmental management System will be highly regarded.
