The opportunity

The Rio Tinto Procurement team have a number of opportunities available within the categories of Rail, Gas and Marine. The roles vary in scope and complexity and commercially-minded individuals who have the ability to drive innovation and problem solve in a globally dispersed team are sought. Accountabilities include:
  • Developing and executing long term supply strategies within the Rail, Marine or Gas categories including negotiating and implementing subsequent contractual arrangements.
  • Undertaking ongoing strategic contract management to ensure we stretch supplier capability to deliver maximum benefit to our operations.
  • Strengthening relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Leading and mentoring more junior colleagues when required.
What you will need for these roles

These roles are suited to those who have commercial acumen combined with the drive to champion change. In addition to this you will have:
  • the ability to think strategically;
  • problem solving skills;
  • a proven track record of delivery in a team environment;
  • previous experience building relationships with, and influencing,stakeholders; and
  • strong skills in negotiation.
Experience in Rail, Gas or Marine, either from a commercial or technical perspective, is well regarded but not essential. Tertiary qualification in a relevant technical or commercial field, or equivalent relevant experience, is sought.
