THE PEACENEXUS FOUNDATION
PeaceNexus (www.peacenexus.org) is an operational and grant-making foundation based in Switzerland. Its core mission is to provide peacebuilding actors – multilateral organisations, governments, non-profit organisations and businesses – with expertise and advice to make the best use of their peacebuilding potential. Its tailored support services are complemented by a grant mechanism that supports innovative ideas and organisational development for agents of change.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS
  1. Co-management of the PeaceNexus Fund Manage the assessment and development of grant applications (in consultation with PeaceNexus board and staff members) and support the development of proposals by grantees. Administer fund disbursements, monitor project implementation, and manage independent evaluations of projects supported by the Fund.
  2. Research Conduct research projects across PeaceNexus programme areas. This will involve responding short term research requests that directly relate to the implementation of PeaceNexus projects as well as the research and production of publications that support programme objectives. Contribute to the monitoring and evaluation of selected PeaceNexus projects, including through conducting and transcribing interviews for After Action Reviews.
  3. Communications Draft content relating to projects supported by the Fund for the PeaceNexus website. Edit and proof read PeaceNexus documents for external circulation.
CORE COMPETENCES REQUIRED:
  • Knowledge of Peacebuilding Broad understanding of actors involved in peacebuilding and the approaches they use. A relevant University (Masters) Degree and two years’ relevant work experience is required. Work experience with a peacebuilding organisation in the field would be an asset.
  • Project Management Experience with the operations of NGOs working in peacebuilding contexts. Knowledge of methods of project design, management and evaluation. Strong organisational and administrative skills.
  • Research and Analysis Strong analytical and research skills. Demonstrated track-record of producing briefings and longer research reports/publications in topics of relevance to peacebuilding.
  • Communications Strong writing (in English) and inter-personal skills for internal and external communications. French language proficiency would be an asset.
ADDITIONAL DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE:
  • Grant-making Previous experience with small-grant making would be an asset.
  • Organisational Development Since it is one of the Fund priorities, interest in and experience of organisational development would be an asset.
  • Information Technology
    Previous experience with project management and web-site content maintenance software would be an asset.

Long-listed candidates will be interviewed by telephone and asked to complete a written task. Shortlisted candidates will be required to complete psychometric tests and invited to a two-day interview/group testing exercise at the PeaceNexus offices in Prangins in February/March 2014.
