The Organisation

QGC is a leading Australian coal seam gas explorer and producer focused on supplying cleaner hydrocarbon energy to growing domestic and international markets. 

We are establishing Queensland Curtis LNG, a world-first project to turn reserves of natural coal seam gas in the Surat and Bowen basins in Queensland into liquefied natural gas (LNG) – a carbon efficient fuel. 

QGC, which is wholly owned by the British energy company BG Group, employs more than 4,300 staff and contractors. 

Position Summary

This role is accountable for the Electrical & Instrumentation maintenance and reliability of Field infrastructure. Through safe working practices, this role ensures downtime is minimised, supporting the achievement of production targets. The incumbent is accountable for ensuring compliance with QGC and BG Standards and the application of industry best practice to support ongoing improvement in operational performance.

Key Accountabilities

Position Specific• Leads the execution of all E&I maintenance activities in the Asset.
• Actively participate in, and contribute to, Maintenance Strategy Reviews, and provide actual field knowledge and equipment practical history. 

Work Planning / Scheduling• Own the delivery of the E&I portion of the Site Schedule, ensuring that:
• Work preparation is complete for all jobs on the Site Schedule, including verification of material availability;
• All work is completed according to the agreed Site Schedule; 
• CAP jobs are completed; and, 
• Safety Critical Work is prioritised.
• Ensuring that any urgent or emergency work requested by the Area Operations Superintendent / Field Operations Manager / Maintenance Superintendent, is approved via the “Break-In” process. 
• Actively engage with the Mechanical Supervisors and Rotating Equipment Supervisors on joint trade work to discuss and agree SIMOPS plans and the most effective execution model. 
• Provide feedback to the Supply & Inventory team on sparing, with regards to preservation, quantity and general quality. 

Continuous Improvement
• Proactively seek feedback from work crews with regard to potential opportunities for improvement in the quality, detail and man-hours for all E&I work completed. 
• Actively seek ways to improve the productive working time for E&I maintenance crews, removing work inefficiency “roadblocks”, and proactively implementing initiatives to improve work productivity.
• Engage with the Reliability team in the execution and solution implementation of Root Cause Failure Analysis outcomes. 
• Review KPI performance data to identify key trends, and ways of further improving performance. 

Administration
• Ensure that all work orders are updated with all history status and actual man-hours fields completed every week. 
• Actively works with Lead Maintenance Planners and Maintenance Planners to define acceptable work pack quality and required minimum documentation. 
• Sets clear expectations to all work crews on the required quality of close out documentation, taking necessary action to ensure consistency of quality as required.

People Management
• Ensure that all trade Electrical personnel have a current Electrical license valid in Queensland.
• Provide leadership, supervision and management of a team of E&I maintenance personnel comprised of both direct QGC employees and third party contractors.
• Actively engages with employees within their remit, spending at least 20% of each roster rotation in the field with work crews, ensuring that clear expectations are set for HSSE, quality, planning and productivity. 
• Ensure that work crews have adequate resources available to safely and efficiently execute work, and take remedial action as required.
• Ensure that appropriate housekeeping standards are established and maintained. 
• The incumbent must abide by company policy in relation to HR policies and procedures such as annual HR cycle and meet deadlines within the appropriate timeframes

Health Safety Security and Environment (HSSE)
• Every individual has a duty to both themselves and those around them to ensure that safe practice is adhered to at all times. In addition to any specific accountabilities for HSSE, all QGC employees are accountable for HSSE within their area of the Business and are responsible for ensuring that their team (if applicable) adopt exemplary HSSE behaviours

Unique Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Attribute

Experience• Substantial experience in oil and gas, or related industry experience. 
• Supervisory experience, with demonstrated leadership qualities.
• Extensive knowledge of safety case and HSSE requirements in processing plant.
• Proven experience in the resolution of complex problems in operational facilities. 
• Experience in managing a significant budget.
• Proven ability to identify emerging trends and maintenance risks and opportunities. 
• Proactive and visible HSE leadership, demonstrating commitment to safety through language, behaviours and actions. 

Knowledge, Skills and Attributes
• An Electrical & Instrumentation qualification is or equivalent work experience is desired.
• Strong communication skills, (verbal and written) with proven ability to engage with a broad spectrum of people.
• Ability to challenge outcomes and views which do not meet the production efficiency, availability, and integrity criteria, or may potentially hinder delivery. 
• Active team player, participating in the attainment of team goals, encouraging and leading continuous improvement.
• Ability to think widely to solve complex technical problems using innovating solutions. 
• Excellent time management skills.
• Demonstrated commitment to HSSE.
• Strong implementation orientation i.e. achievement driven.

Special Features
• This position is field based, and the incumbent will be engaged on a 15/13 rotational roster. 
• The incumbent may be required to undertake occasional domestic travel, and must hold a current driver’s licence that allows for the operation of a manual vehicle.
