Integrity Research and Consultancy - Regional Head East Africa

Scope of Work:
Regional Head East Africa (RH EA) will execute Integrity’s East Africa regional strategy and manage the East Africa team and infrastructure. S/he will represent the company for all work won and delivered in Integrity’s East Africa portfolio, comprising programmes and projects in Kenya, Somalia, South Sudan, Tanzania and Uganda. S/he will be Integrity’s primary point of liaison with clients based in the region and work closely with the rest of the Directorate Business team to drive and oversee business and project development for the region and with Directorate Services to support project delivery in the region. RH EA will work closely with Directorate Operations to provide oversight and support for all staff and consultants stationed in or visiting the East Africa region.
RH EA will report directly to the CEO and work to ensure close coordination, efficient working, good communications and mutual supporting relationships with Integrity HQ and the other regional offices. RH EA will be at senior management level and a member of Integrity’s senior management team (SMT). As such RH EA will be closely involved in the formulation of company-wide strategy and coordination and oversight of Integrity’s global portfolio. RH EA will be based in Nairobi, Kenya (Integrity Regional Hub) with business-related travel of up to 50 per cent level of effort primarily to the four other countries in the regional portfolio and to the UK.
A. Strategy and management (30% level of effort)
  1. Execute Integrity’s regional East Africa strategy and ensure understanding, buy-in and uptake at all levels of the company.
  2. Overall line management of Integrity personnel in East Africa and oversee regional infrastructure.
  3. Ensure efficient financial and administrative processes in East Africa and between East Africa and London in close cooperation with Directorate Corporate.
  4. Ensure efficient and constructive communications with London HQ including regular high-quality summaries and forecasts of pipeline, finances, risk and project delivery.
B. Business development, account and consultant management (40% level of effort)
In line with agreed strategy and in close cooperation with Directorate Business:
  1. Consolidate, grow and diversify Integrity’s East Africa client base.
  2. Drive and ensure a sufficient, reliable pipeline of East Africa work able to meet agreed financial targets.
  3. Drive and ensure the transition of pipeline opportunities into active pre-positioning and successful proposal processes.
  4. Lead key proposal processes for regional opportunities.
  5. Drive and ensure the growth, development and performance assessment of Integrity’s regional bench of project consultants and delivery partners.
C. Project Delivery (20% level of effort)
In close cooperation with Directorate Services:
  1. Quality-assure and oversee delivery of the East Africa regional portfolio.
  2. Project Direct select flagship regional projects.
D. Operational and Project Support (10% level of effort)
  1. Ensure the support, facilitation and safety of all Integrity staff and consultants working in East Africa.
  2. Ensure regional support to the security, logistics and safe delivery of all projects in East Africa, in close consultation with Directorate Corporate and Directorate Operations.
  3. Understand, analyse and effectively communicate security, reputational, delivery, resource and pipeline risks.
Experience:
The successful candidate must have experience:
  1. Working at a senior level for relevant organisations in the development, public or corporate sectors.
  2. Experience designing, implementing or managing projects preferably in fragile or conflict-affected contexts.
  3. Representing organisations with strong brand interests.
  4. Managing staff and consultants as part of international teams.
  5. Developing and winning new business, including lead generation, proposal development and contract negotiation.
  6. Designing and delivering to budget and working to financial targets.
  7. Managing risk and seizing opportunity.
Competencies:
The candidate should be able to:
  1. Write and communicate fluently and articulately in English.
  2. Demonstrate sound financial fluency.
  3. Develop and manage relationships through a constructive and personable approach.
  4. Influence and win over interlocutors, build consortia and form consensus.
  5. Demonstrate strong communication and leadership skills, an ability to work well independently and in teams, and to well represent the wider organisation.
  6. Work under pressure and to tight deadlines with flexibility, efficiency and good nature.
  7. Demonstrate an ethical approach, personal commitment and strong sense of self.
Languages:
  1. Fluent and articulate spoken and written English a must.
  2. Knowledge of Swahili, Somali or Arabic desirable.
