Grants Programme Coordinator – South Sudan Programme


Free Press Unlimited is currently seeking to hire a Grants Programme Coordinator for programme activities in South Sudan. The position is based at Amsterdam headquarters but travels frequently to the field (up to 50% of the time).

Your challenge:
You will have oversight of financial management and financial reporting aspects of all grants, including budget management and cash flows in line with donor requirements.
To support local project management and implementation, including the timely completion of all project tasks, deliverables and reporting requirements including support for staff administration. You have experience in and will support acquisition of new funding for South Sudan related programme activities.
Main job responsibilities:
1. Grants Management:
  • Ensures the effective management of all grants and awards to the South Sudan program throughout their project cycle, maintaining close oversight of donor requirements and fulfillment of outlined obligations;
  • Leads project budget development and works with local project managers to ensure close supervision of budget management, including tracking expenditures and financial reporting at the field and HQ level;
  • Oversees the timely completion of financial reports to funders, including ensure that accounting reporting from the field is compiled and passed to HQ offices in a timely and coherent manner;
2. Programme performance:
  • In close coordination with South Sudan Program Lead, supports local project staff in ensuring the full and timely implementation of projects;
  • Supports local project management and teams to ensure complete and excellent project delivery; including direct assistance and facilitation as well as provision of expertise in areas of program delivery;
  • Serves as effective conduit between field teams and HQ offices as regards standard business as well as when additional advise or support is needed;
  • Anticipates and lead completion and delivery of all donor required period reports, while responding promptly to all information requests from donors and other partners;
3. Business development:
  • Continually identifies opportunities for new business and concrete new funding opportunities;
  • Works collaboratively and creatively with South Sudan program staff as well as Free Press Unlimited personnel to develop innovate project ideas, as needed, responding to specific donor requirements;
  • Supports the development of proposals, including managing financial/budget preparations and narratives, in collaboration with Program Lead;
  • Ensures that all aspects of proposals are fully completed for submission, including technical components including logframes, monitoring and evaluation plans and theory of change;
We're looking for an energetic and driven individual with:
  • Uni of Applied Sciences/University level of working and thinking;
  • At least 5 years' experience in programme development, implementation and grants management, preferably in development context;
  • Experience working in an international environment and developing countries;
  • Proven proposal and report writing skills;
  • Excellent command of Dutch and English;
  • Ability and willingness to travel to South Sudan;
  • Residence and work permit for The Netherlands.
