The role
As the Sales Area Business Controller – Sales Area Americas (SAA), you will contribute to the overall operational and financial goals for the Sales area. Through fulfilling your main responsibilities, you will support execution of key activities and ensure performance according to expectation. This role will have responsibilities under both Sales Area Americas, as well as, US Business Control. This position will report directly to the President – Americas, Sandvik Coromant.
Sales Area Americas responsibilities will include:
  • Represent SAA in the management team from a business control perspective
  • Provides the SAA management team with financial and operational information to make the right business-critical decisions
  • Drive monthly performance management as well as follow-up on business plans processes in SAA towards markets and zones as well as globally
  • Represent SAA in the global Business Control team and implements global initiatives in SAA.
  • Take lead in coordinating and driving improvements in SAA ways of working such as budget processes, financial and operational reporting, and other relevant performance management activities
  • Work closely with the President on the development of business strategies and plans, including performance management, modeling, analysis, and comments on financial implications
  • Support SAA markets in activities and contacts with Sandvik Inc when relevant
US Business Control responsibilities will include:
  • Responsible for the follow-up on business plan implementation actions and monitoring the financial results versus plans
  • Preparing and distributing of all required financial and management reports, including analysis and follow-up on actual results versus budget and prior periods
  • Prepare the annual operating budget, rolling forecasts, and ad hoc business plans
  • Ensures the efficient functioning, identifies needs and develops all accounting and financial control systems
  • Interpret, implement, and develop financial operating policies within the Company in compliance with Sandvik, Inc. and Sandvik Coromant Financial and Control Policies
  • Provide for audits of commercial processes to ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Provide coordination with Sandvik Inc back-office financial services to ensure effective service levels.
  • Responsible for Coromant legal and compliance questions, working in cooperation with Sandvik Inc.
Traveling within or outside the country may be required.
Your profile
The Sales Area Business Controller must possess a minimum of a BS degree in Accounting or Finance, along with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience, preferably in a Business Control/Business Reporting function. Candidates should be organized, detail-oriented and able to work in a fast-paced environment. You’re flexible, adjusting well to change, and remain calm under pressure with the ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines. You balance quick business decisions with proper risk management, clearly communicating the impact on the business, the customer, and the employees. You also easily and comfortably balance both strategic and operational priorities within the role.You are comfortable interacting and engaging with managers and stakeholders throughout all levels of the business, and work well as part of a team.
As a manager you are comfortable with your leadership abilities, and have well-developed communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and outside partners at all levels. Capability and interest in managing, leading and motivating a virtual and global organization in a fast-paced environment is also needed. You’re ready to act as a change leader and challenge the current way of working, promote new initiatives, and initiate action. Additionally the Sales Area Business Controller – SAA:
  • Must possess strong computer skills, SAP experience is a plus
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the United States along with ability to travel and conduct business activities internationally
  • Must read, write, and speak English fluently. Knowledge of Spanish is a plus
