Location:

Mai Po Nature Reserve, Hong Kong (Local package without expatriate benefits)
 
       
Main responsibilities:
  • Reporting to the Assistant Director, Conservation, this position is responsible for leading the team to develop and maintain the facilities and habitats at Mai Po Nature Reserve (MPNR) to achieve WWF’s conservation objectives.
  • Leading a team of over 20 staff members to develop and maintain the facilities and habitats at Mai Po Nature Reserve(MPNR) according to the objectives and timetables outlined in the Mai Po Management Plan
  • Manage and support projects in MPNR to ensure infrastructural and other development works are on the track
  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with Government and other stakeholders, regarding the conservation and wise use of the Mai Po/Inner Deep Bay wetlands
  • Cooperate and provide support to different internal departments and programmes to maintain a high level of public awareness on issues relating to the MPNR
  • Prepare and monitor the annual budget and funding
  • Carry out any other duties or ad hoc project as required 

What you need:

Required Qualifications:
  • University degree or above
  • Proven project and budget management experience are essential
  • Work experience in wetland or wildlife centre is a distinct advantage
  • Knowledge of HK biodiversity and conservation issues are highly desirable 

Required Skills and Competencies:

  • Passionate about the natural environment and with some knowledge of birds or ecology or environmental management
  • An ability to motivate and mobilize others
  • Excellent staff management skills
  • Excellent problem-solving, research and analytical skills
  • A team player with excellent communications and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent in both written and spoken English.  Fluency in Cantonese and Putonghua are preferred but not essential
