Senior Media and Policy Officer: Treasury Select Committee

The Role

The successful candidate will sustain the Treasury Committee’s strong profile in print, broadcast and digital media. A key focus of the role will be providing additional communications advice and support for the Chair including drafting speeches, correspondence and briefing material.

The role will involve providing strategic media advice, handling and support for the Treasury Committee. The post holder will deliver the best possible media coverage in print, broadcast and digital media, and provide additional communications advice and support for the Chair. The role will also focus on providing policy support to the Chair including drafting of briefing material and questions, organising meetings, and horizon scanning for likely future policy developments.

The Person

• A minimum of two years’ experience in a relevant environment in financial journalism and/or external communications in the economic field, with strong news sense and an ability to use this to deliver media coverage which supports the committee’s aims.
• Up to date knowledge of UK economic and financial policy issues, including knowledge of key networks, organisations and individuals in the field.
• Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing, and the ability to persuade and influence at all levels.
