Introduction
ICS promotes sustainable economic development and wellbeing of farming families in developing countries through a unique integrated approach of (social) business development, child protection systems and skilful parenting initiatives. By working closely with local communities, ICS invests in the development of various entrepreneurial initiatives. ICS attracts capital and funding from social investors, institutional donors, and private donors. ICS was established in the 1980s, and has set up 4 limited companies and a local East African NGO to organize its activities. The ICS group has offices in Kenya and Tanzania, and is headquartered in Amersfoort, the Netherlands.
The ICS companies focus on providing smallholder farmers with access to quality inputs, and access to markets. In 2016, they will serve 40.000 farmers in Kenya and Tanzania, with a turnover of EU 4 million. We plan to grow to 100.000 farmers in 2018, and to expand into Uganda (2017) and possibly other countries. The social enterprises also implement clean drinking water facilities in Kenya and Tanzania.
The Portfolio manager will be responsible in the Dutch office for part of the agribusiness portfolio.
PORTFOLIO MANAGER AGRIBUSINESS
Job summary
The Portfolio manager Agribusiness will contribute to / lead the following activities ( in close collaboration with the colleague Portfolio manager Agribusiness):
* Managing projects and donor accounts in the portfolio. This includes managing the substantial Geodatics project, a collaboration between ICS, Wageningen UR, and several other partners.
* Supporting local management on business development, local fundraising and donor relations, and project management.
* Leading the process for fundraising proposals which are coordinated by ICS in the Netherlands.
* Building and maintaining a network of relations with relevant parties.
The Portfolio Manager works closely together with the African teams of our local social enterprises, and with the other Portfolio Managers in the Netherlands.
Profile
The Portfolio Manager we are looking for has at least five years of working experience with agricultural economic development programmes and/or social enterprise development. You have experience in developing and communicating business cases. Agricultural knowledge is key, WASH knowledge is a plus. You have an entrepreneurial attitude, and a strong drive to realize the high ambitions with our social enterprises. Your project management skills are excellent. You have proven fundraising capabilities, such as networking and proposal writing. You are comfortable with working in a highly dynamic international environment. Of course, your English communication is flawless.
Contract
The employee is initially given a one year contract for 32 - 36 (fulltime) hours per week. The position based in Amersfoort. Frequent travel is required.
