The crude, liquids and products (CLP) business cluster is Statoil's trading organization and marketer of crude oil, refined products, gas liquids, methanol, together with related derivative trading. Business is conducted at the offices in Stavanger, London, Stamford (USA), Calgary and Singapore. The CLP North American FC function provides services to the U.S. based Natural Gas (NG) business segment.

Job description

  • Purpose of position:
  • Deal Handling Analyst/Senior Deal Handling Analyst position is primarily responsible for providing the commodity settlement function for contracts related to oil and natural gas products
  • In particular, this position will support transactions relating to wet cargo or US domestic pipeline activities in the Stamford office
  • Responsibilities and Duties:
  • •Working with customers and suppliers to properly and professionally settle commercial transactions, including review of contract, price verification, invoicing, and payment (Shipping, US Domestic, Cargos, Swaps and options, GL forwards and Physicals, Pipeline transactions and Net outs).
  • oApproval of invoices, cargo payments, other cost orders and demurrage settlements after checking for accuracy following system controls.
  • •Management of complex contract requirements, including maintenance of external reports.
  • •Management of other costs (freight, broker fees, inspection, etc.).
  • oEnter other cost payment data into trading system.
  • •Document management (Bill of Lading – BOL, insurance).
  • •Coordination and update of SOX key controls within the department.
  • •Various commodity and transportation settlement / reconciliation work.
  • •Prepare transactions for month end closing.
  • •Follow up payments.
  • •Professionally handle breaks in the settlement process in a fast and proficient manner.
  • •Must be able to handle a variable daily workload.
  • •Be a fully trained back up of various settlement functions.
  • •Project participation with business-specific projects, including systems and applications.

Qualifications

  • Equivalent Education Level
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a similar discipline required (Accounting and/or Finance). However, relevant business experience and personal qualifications can make up for lack of a formal education.
  • •Candidate must have 2+ years experience in physical energy commodity settlements experience.
  • •Individual must be detail-oriented and able to work well under pressure/time constraints.
  • •Must have professional customer/supplier phone skills.
  • •Must be proactive and communicate effectively with internal and external clients.
  • •Experience working with SAP is a plus.
  • •The position will be filled at a level commensurate with the successful applicant’s experience.
