The Research community in Statoil contributes to our strategic Seismic Imaging and Interpretation ambition by developing algorithms and workflows to address seismic imaging and interpretation challenges in complex geological settings. We are expanding our research team in Houston and seek new team members to work on imaging and interpretation challenges in integrated teams, bridging technologies from geophysics and geology. The Houston team is part of a larger research community within Statoil and interacts closely with co-workers in other office locations. The Houston research team has special focus on developing technology to support our Exploration and Field Development teams in Houston.

Job description

  • Lead/participate in integrated research team with development and implementation of velocity estimation and imaging solutions addressing complex imaging challenges
  • Follow-up of external development
  • Current main focus in the department is development and implementation of integrated imaging and interpretation solutions bridging knowledge and technology from different disciplines in geophysics and geology

Qualifications

  • Required Qualifications:
  • Masters Degree
  • 5-15 years experience within geo-science, relevant to geophysical reservoir monitoring, seismic imaging and velocity model building, acquisition design and seismic modeling
  • US Work authorization
  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • 10+ years experience in relevant geo-sciences (background from both applied geo-science and research are preferred)
  • Experience related to following development from feasibility, through implementation to an optimized production version
  • PhD
