Job Description
The Band C1 Scientific Officer’s remit is to undertake research design and to co-ordinate and manage the day to day running of the Centre for Rheumatology, Rehabilitation and Sports and exercise medicine department at DMRC Headley court including the line management of three Higher Scientific Officers. The department has links with other research agencies within the MOD and with external bodies such as Brunel and Birmingham university. In conjunction with line managers, Head of Research and Director of Defence Rehabilitation, formulate research ideas and conduct and supervise research in line with Research Department Strategy and Policy.
The applicant should have a PhD and at least 5 years research experience, a significant publication record, high competence in research methodology and statistics, proven data management skills and experience of running population based clinical studies. They should be highly motivated with a keen interest in musculoskeletal and epidemiological research with a desire to publish. They should be prepared to work unsociable hours where the logistics of a study necessitates and travel to other military units world wide.
