Canadian Payroll Supervisor

GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION

Responsibilities include:
Responsible for the full, in house processing of Canadian payrolls for all Canadian employees, while making sure all Canadian guidelines are followed. Able to work independently and take ownership in efficiently processing payrolls, organizing work effectively, and meeting deadlines. Other duties as assigned.

Key Responsibilities
• Payment of three semi-monthly and one bi-weekly payroll for approximately 450 Canadian employees, including processing of payroll data for new hires, terminations, pay adjustments, deductions and records of employment.
• Monthly pension and quarterly Board of Director payroll processing, including fund transfers, remittances, reporting and filings.
• Process payroll tax, savings plan contributions, and third party garnishment payments and file Federal and Provincial documentation (WCB, EHT, etc.)
• Payroll accounting including preparation of payroll journals and work with Accounting department to reconcile payroll accounts
• Process bonus, employee stock purchase, stock options and restricted share payments.
• Coordination with Human Resources and Benefits to properly calculate and process taxes for company benefits, relocations, bonuses, scholarships, etc.
• Perform calendar year-end related activities, including updating taxable benefits and balancing & producing T4’s, T4A’s, and NR4’s.
• Continuing education regarding payroll regulations and job growth
• Review and respond to PIER reports

SELECTION CRITERIA

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
To be considered for this job, applicants must meet these basic requirements:

• Minimum 7 years full function payroll experience required. Canadian Payroll experience preferred
• Proficient with PC operations, Intermediate to advanced Excel skills required
• Certified Payroll Professional certificate (CPP) preferred
• Strong knowledge of Taxable Benefits and CRA Taxation rules preferred
• Understanding of Oracle ERP system and prior application experience preferred
• Self motivated and able to work independently required
• Strong organizational skills to effectively prioritize work and meet deadlines required
