Development and Communications Officer Washington, DC

The Development and Communications Officer will provide high-level editorial support for a fast-paced communications department, and will also provide particular support for fundraising and development initiatives, to include print, editorial, and interactive product production.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Provide editorial counsel and support as key communications point of contact to Development department.
• Produce editorial products, including fact sheets, brochures, website and intranet copy, social media and external online outputs, and the annual report. Work closely with editorial team, especially graphic designer, to realize these publications.
• Produce fundraising materials, including materials such as invitations, case statements, sales presentations/materials, and speeches/talking points for donor events. This position will work closely with major gifts, corporate partnerships and special events development staff and in conjunction with editorial and design teams.
• Conceptualize, write, and edit publications and materials for departments across the Foundation and provide coordination role to graphic designer on such publications and materials.
• Create and update key messaging.

Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree required
• At least 5 years of relevant writing, editing and digital interactive experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Non-profit experience, especially in global health, highly preferred, particularly with publications and development/marketing communications experience.
• Self-starter with ability to see the big picture.
• Flexibility and adaptability to changing situations.
• Ability to travel as needed.
• Basic, working knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite and other related design software is preferred, but not required.
