Finance Analyst - Africa Supply

The Global Beer Supply organisation is responsible for Diageo’s beer production worldwide and is made up of the Diageo owned brewing and packaging operations in Ireland/UK, Africa, and Jamaica along with the numerous 3rd party brewing and packaging relationships across the world.
Global Beer is made up of 6 operating units; Europe Beer, Red Stripe and Africa. Europe Beer and Red Stripe consolidate their costs of production into Global Supply’s reported numbers, however the Africa units operate as integrated markets and supply costs are not reported separately.

Diageo Africa has a significant growth agenda over the next four years that includes continuing expansion into new geographies and embedding a Total Beverage Alcohol (TBA) strategy. To support and accelerate our growth ambition ,the Africa region consists of four strategic business units, Nigeria, East Africa (Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania) South Africa, and Africa Regional Markets The newly created Africa Regional Markets will include Ghana, Cameroon Hub, DISA and Ethiopia, and will enable us to accelerate growth and to up-weight our focus on the distributor markets across West Africa, Central Africa and Southern Africa)


Dimensions of the role

a) Financial
In F12 Africa Supply’s cost base is approx £750m split over 4 main operating units Nigeria, East Africa, South Africa and Africa Regional Markets.
b) Market Complexity
Africa is a complicated region with a number of “owned” production units integrated into the local markets. The “East Africa” and “Africa Region Markets” structure are particularly complex, both incorporating a number of countries and multiple production sites.


Purpose of Role


  • Support the Finance Manager – Performance & Procurement to deliver the Business Performance Management (BPM) process for Africa Supply and Global Beer where appropriate.

  • Drive continuous improvement in this area



Top Accountabilities


  • Work with the Finance Manager – Performance & Procurement to develop the BPM process in the new organisational design.

  • Produce the timely, insightful and relevant BPM information that drives an in-depth understanding of the business performance drivers across Africa Supply.

  • Perform detailed analysis to drive performance insights and challenge in market teams to determine route cause and possible mitigation/benefit.

  • Coordinate the monthly BPM process for Africa Supply.

  • Support the Global Supply Chain planning cycle for Africa Supply to support the Global Challenge & Build process and the annual financial plans



Qualifications and experience required

Essential


  • Professionally qualified accountant.

  • Proven track record in financial performance management and reporting.

  • Able to work in a team environment, collaborating with various business partners and finance groups across Diageo.

  • Strong understanding of accounting & reporting systems, as well as Excel based modelling and access

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong personal impact and able to quickly build value-adding relationships with stakeholders at all levels.

  • Flexible approach, able to deal with ambiguity and develop and manage complex relationships in a matrix environment.
