Financial Controlling Analyst - GB - Junior Manager

Western Europe Represent 25% of Diageo’s profit. It consists of the developed markets within Europe which excludes Russia, Eastern Europe and Turkey.
Finance in Western Europe is organised at 2 different levels 1) the market i.e. Western Europe and 2) in- country (GB, Ireland, Iberia, Germany/Austria, France, Benelux, Greece, Italy/Switzerland, Nordics, DGCE, Reserve & GB Wine).
BPM, Consumer Marketing financial support and financial control including tax, compliance and controls, process improvement is organised at a Western Europe level.
Commercial Finance and in country performance management is managed at a country level.


Dimensions of the role


Financial Controller reports directly to the GB Financial Controller but supports closely and is the one point contact to the commercial finance director and country directors in respect of financial controls.
For the geographical area it represents it is the liaison between the country director and the different controller functions, DBS in general, in country commercial finance & external stakeholders such as auditors and tax authorities.

The Financial Controller, ‘GB junior manager’ is based in Budapest but requires to lead and coordinate and coach people both in an immediate team in DBS, across Western Europe and in country, but also in other functions such as group accounting when it comes to financial controls matters for the geography.
Strategic responsibilities
Financial Control Activities, including:

  • Support and some part, coordinate for the country management account.

  • Coordinate operational accounting activities, month and quarter end closes, within DBS and in country.

  • Ensure the team produces monthly and quarterly management and financial reports in accordance with the agreed group timetable.

  • Create and maintain high quality and effective internal control area. Deliver successful internal & external (GAR, KPMG) audits. Ensure RTR processes are SOX/CARM compliant.

People Management:

  • Working closely with other in-house and local financial teams



Purpose of Role



  • Provide high quality financial support to Western Europe and the respective Country for GB.

  • As part of this role, to be responsible for the quality, accuracy, timeliness and financial relevance of the in-country statutory and management information.



Top Accountabilities



  • Responsible for daily operational accounting and financial activities.

  • Coordinate and participate to the month-end close, reporting and reconciliation process. Ensure the completeness and the accuracy of financial records.

  • Responsible for compliances and stability of the internal processes

  • Creating high performing finance teams (virtual) across WE, GB and Shared Services



Qualifications and experience required


Qualifications
University / College degree in finance / business

Work experience
Qualified accountant with minimum of 5 – 6 years working and management experience in a multinational corporate environment, with exposure to some of the following areas:

  • Financial and Management Accounting, Controlling & Reporting processes

  • Accounting standards (IFRS, US GAAP, etc..) experience

  • Experience on people management

  • Internal / external audit experience and/or SOX

  • Experience with Shared services process activities

  • Process improvement

  • Project / change management

  • Business experience and understanding

  • Risk assessment

  • Improved senior stakeholder management and influencing skill

Language skills
English excellent
Other languages within geographical area is a bonus
