The following challenging position exists within the Gert Sibande District Municipality (Category 3 Municipality), an equal opportunity employer, for a suitably qualified dynamic Senior Manager of stature and maturity who can actively further the image of the District Municipality.

MUNICIPAL MANAGER
(4-year fixed-term performance-based contract)
Salary negotiable (Ref. GSDMMM001)
Requirements:
- An appropriate tertiary qualification, preferably at postgraduate level or equivalent
- A minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience in a senior management capacity or equivalent high-level exposure in the public sector environment
- Extensive knowledge of the Local Government sector with specific emphasis on legislation governing the sector and the interface with other spheres of Government
- A valid Code EB driver’s licence.

Duties:
- Strategically lead and manage the administration of the Municipality towards effective, efficient and accountable service excellence
- Direct, co-ordinate and implement the Municipality’s IDP (Integrated Development Plan), which includes the development of policies and procedures to facilitate effective community participation
- Ensure adherence to all legislation governing Local Government
- Strategically manage all income, expenditure, assets and liabilities of the Municipality to ensure compliance with the MFMA, including the delivery of a clean audit report
- Manage the interface between political and administrative arms of the Municipality and provide support to the office bearers and members of ExCo in exercising their leadership
- Network with all stakeholders as well as develop and maintain a good relationship with other spheres of Government.
