The PCP network, which now includes 14 chapters around the nation, believes that the establishment of a robust foundation of primary care is absolutely critical for the creation of a high-value healthcare system. Position Overview

Primary Care Progress (PCP) is seeking a dynamic and accomplished National Field Organizer to support the Senior National Field Organizer in developing and implementing a unique field strategy to promote PCP initiatives and support chapters in communities throughout the country. The Field Organizer will help recruit a growing team of organizers and chapter leaders and build on and implement an innovative and successful primary care community engagement and mobilization campaign. The Field Organizer will be a full time position based in Cambridge, MA with regular travel (5-10% of time).

Responsibilities

  • Work with the Sr. National Field Organizer to help build and execute a strategy to expand the Primary Care Progress chapter network in critical regions and communities
  • Conduct daily outreach to members of targeted academic communities through email and telephone communication
  • Help recruit, train and mentor teams of local chapter leaders in community engagement, leveraging power, and building coalitions across diverse interest groups
  • Provide on-going strategic support to chapters to help them set goals and hold them accountable to those goals
  • Working with other key staff to design and disseminate strategies and resources related to primary care community mobilization, leadership development, and trainee engagement
  • Conduct on-the-ground trainings
  • Work with the Communications Manager to design and implement strategies to incorporate social media technology (Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, etc.) to support and enhance the overall field strategy
  • Develop training webinars and other virtual training tools
  • Travel for site visits to provide support and technical assistance to local collaboratives
  • Help develop and implement comprehensive systems to track and report on process and outcome indicators
  • Other responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time

Qualifications

  • 1-2 years of experience preferably in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial setting; experience working on issue and advocacy campaigns, chapter or union organizing campaigns, and/or electoral campaigns required;
  • Content knowledge of the healthcare field highly desired
  • Significant experience recruiting, empowering, and developing volunteer leaders
  • Ability to teach organizing methods and troubleshoot organizing issues
  • Experience working with virtual and remote teams
  • Knowledge of message development and the importance of sticking to the message
  • Strong sense of social strategy and ability to quickly adapt to a changing environment
  • Goal-orientation and willingness to hold self and others accountable to aggressive goals
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills and an ability to inspire and engage with others meaningfully
  • Ability to work quickly and cooperatively under pressure
  • Energetic outlook and commitment to the Primary Care Progress mission and grassroots approach to change
  • A team orientation combining collegiality and creativity to drive and motivate others
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required
  • Ability to travel
  • Work a flexible schedule including some evenings and weekends
