Information Officer

The Center for Contemporary Arab Studies (CCAS) at Georgetown University seeks an administrative assistant to handle clerical support for CCAS, including answering inquiries, managing front desk, maintaining office space, handling mail and other Center communications, ordering supplies and managing inventory, and assisting faculty and staff as requested.

The information officer will handle some A/V and tech responsibilities, including serving as the department technology representative. This staff member will process some financial documents, including contracts, expense vouchers, journal vouchers, wire transfers, and reconciliations and is the Center’s main point of contact for procurement, purchasing, and vendor relations. This position manages the Center Boardroom schedule and reservations and provides light A/V support for the boardroom, as well as arranging repair and cleaning of the room and instructing users on the policies governing the room’s use. This position is the timekeeper for student employees and assists in supervising and scheduling of student workers. The Information Officer is the first point of contact for the Center, greeting visitors and handling inquiries, and is crucial to the smooth operation of the office by providing key administrative support to Center faculty, staff and students.

Minimum qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree required; 1-2 years of office experience, preferably in an academic setting. Excellent computer and AV skills and the ability to use Microsoft Office suite, web and email, and classroom technology equipment. Excellent communication skills and ability to handle oneself in professional manner. Ability to communicate effectively and diplomatically to a wide range of constituents.
