Healthcare HIV Testing Program Coordinator

Position Title: Healthcare HIV Testing Program Coordinator

Job Overview:

This position is responsible for the development, coordination and co-facilitation of healthcare provider focused education on HIV and HIV testing training to healthcare providers within the Emergency Department and three outpatient clinics within St. Christopher's Hospital for Children (as well as community-based healthcare providers) and designing, implementing and monitoring systems that promote integration and routinization of opt-out HIV testing in those facilities. The incumbent will be responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of a social marketing campaign "Say Yes to the Test" to dramatically increase HIV testing by healthcare providers in those designated facilities at SCHC. The program coordinator will collect, track, enter and analyze testing data from each facility on a weekly basis. This position reports to the HIV Prevention Services Manager but is required to work in close coordination with the Dorothy Mann Center's Clinical Director.

Qualifications:

1. This position requires that the person complete the Counseling and Testing course provided by AACO and has a designated Counselor ID number.

2. Have knowledge of and experience in working in HIV/AIDS as either prevention counselor or counselor/tester.

3. Able to react to change productively and handle other essential tasks as assigned.

4. Able to work with diverse populations (clients and staff).

5. Sensitive to cultural, economic, gender, and sexual orientation differences.

6. Demonstrate flexibility in working conditions and work hours, including evenings and weekends.

7. Proficient in Microsoft Office and essential office computer applications.

8. Excellent writing and critical thinking skills is required.

9. Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree required.

10. Experience working in healthcare setting is preferred.

11. Minimum of 1 year working in the HIV field is required.

Essential Functions:

Workshops & Trainings for Healthcare providers:

1) Develop HIV curriculum & HIV testing training in collaboration with Clinical Director and HIV Prevention Services Manager.

2) Coordinate initial and ongoing workshops/trainings for Emergency Department and three outpatient clinics within SCHC.

3) Establish, engage and maintain relationships with ER and Outpatient Clinics.

4) Co-facilitate workshops & trainings with Clinical Director and HIV Prevention Services Manager

5) Support integration of routine HIV testing within the designated healthcare facilities by serving as a an HIV testing mentor or model, frequenting each facility on a daily basis to provide technical assistance, collect testing data, replenish test kits & supplies, ensure adherence to HIV testing QA & QC.

6) Work closely with the Clinical Director and support staff to ensure smooth transition to care for positive clients, complete the additional CTR and case report forms.

7) Develop, Implement, Track & Monitor all aspects of the social marketing campaign "Say Yes to the Test" including but not limited to all promotional activities (creating flyers, poster, etc.), collecting HIV testing data within all designated facilities, incentive distribution, and creating monthly newsletter.

8) Comply with all DMC requirements and protocols for HIV testing within healthcare setting.

9) Administer, Collect, Enter & Analyze all surveys (pre/post) for healthcare providers.

Data Collection:

1) Collect completed testing forms from each healthcare facility, review to ensure all forms are complete (i.e.? demographic, risk behavior, test outcome, etc.), transfer data to CDC test form and enter into appropriate excel spreadsheet on a daily basis.

2) Collect all data as it relates to the social marketing campaign "Say Yes to the Test" and enter data into appropriate Excel spreadsheet on a weekly basis.

3) Report progress in interim and monthly documents.

Other Duties:

1) Develop patient survey to assess attitudes about provider-initiated testing, distribute to patients within the designated facilities at SCHC on a weekly basis (complete 40 - 50 surveys each month), distribute and track incentives, log survey results in excel spreadsheet.

2) Supervise volunteers and interns.

3) Assist in coordination of community-based private practice healthcare provider trainings.

4) Provide assistance with program plans, developing flyers and other marketing tools for the project as needed.

5) Attend weekly/monthly meetings with DMC mgmt. & staff.

6) Attend all required AACO trainings.

7) Represent DMC at inter-departmental meetings, at off-site and community-based meetings and local and national conferences.

8) Adherence to universal precautions and all SCHC standards and policies.
