nline Content Specialist, Pre-health iCollaborative

Summary:
Individual will work closely with AAMC staff and will have considerable contact with AAMC constituents, pre-health advisors and faculty, and Pre-health iCollaborative users. Individual will represent the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) in promoting Pre-health iCollaborative and may attend meetings and conferences and assist with workshops and presentations as a representative of the Pre-health iCollaborative project and the AAMC.

Responsibilities:
Project Management:

  • Individual will serve as project lead and content expert for the Pre-health iCollaborative project.
  • Individual will coordinate efforts of staff within and outside his/her unit in an effort to meet established deliverables and milestones.

Project Implementation

Responsible for reviewing, screening, and packaging Pre-health iCollaborative online content submissions. These responsibilities include the following:

  • Manage website content for the Pre-health iCollaborative static site within www.aamc.org/icollaborative; including updates and/or announcements.
  • Review Online Content Submissions:
    • Coordinate with iCollaborative staff in the development of Pre-health iCollaborative collection submission form.
    • Manage the peer review of pre-health submissions by coordinating efforts with external content experts and editors.
      • Recruit, train and manage new peer review editors
    • Review pre-health submissions to ensure scope conformity and maintains sufficient content in accordance with established standards.
  • Screen Online Content Submissions:
    • Screen submissions for potential copyright and patient privacy violations.
    • Address any copyright or patient privacy violations with the authors and/or peer reviewers.
  • Package Online Content:
    • Format approved submissions in preparation for final publication on the iCollaborative website adhering to all aamc.org and MedEdPORTAL web standards.
      • Complete abstract to iCollaborative staff inclusive of tagging, images, and resource files.
    • Cross Reference with related content in MedEdPORTAL and on aamc.org:
    • Cross Reference with related discussion forums:
      • Cross link iCollaborative publications with related discussions hosted on Helix or other external discussion forums and vice versa.
    • Submit final resource to iCollaborative staff for publication to iCollaborative site.
    • Contact editor and/or submission author to confirm publication

Requirements:

  • Bachelors Degree required with a focus in communications, online web content development, educational technology, informatics, library and information science, life sciences or related field.
  • Minimum of two years professional experience, creating, managing, modifying, and implementing web-based content and information services preferably in a non-profit setting, especially experience in an academic environment, government, or professional association.
  • Excellent written and communication skills.
  • Excellent editing/proofreading skills.
  • Familiarity with online copyright laws and Creative Commons Licenses.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Proficient with: Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and a variety of multimedia and graphic platforms including html editors and photo editors such as Adobe Photoshop
