Office Assistant SAMSA

The South African Maritime Safety Authority (“SAMSA”) is a Schedule 3A Public Entity with its offices situated in Brooklyn, Pretoria. The following positions are currently available in the West and East Regions:


Office Assista nt
East Region (Richards Bay Office)


The successful candidate will render assistance to the personnel of the relevant section of SAMSA by undertaking urgent and routine typing, monthly statistics, general administration and office duties. In addition, he/she will ensure efficient and effective interface with the general public, and provide backup and support to the Surveyor Support Clerks when required.


Key performance areas: • Type monthly statistics • Type Statutory Certificates • Type letters, faxes, memos and any other general or urgent documents • Offer general office assistance as required • Answer the telephone and direct calls promptly and professionally • Handle faxes • Undertake Surveyor Support Clerk duties including, but not limited to, invoicing, reporting and liaison.


Minimum requirements: • A diploma or higher tertiary qualifications in Office Management • The ability to work under pressure • Knowledge of the maritime environment would be an advantage.
