Location: Headquarters

(Geneva based/Satigny) (100% with 20 % field visits)

Purpose of the post

  • Responsible for the supply strategy and implementation, purchasing and replenishment, for medical devices within the global strategic purchasing unit
  • Involved in the early definition of the needs, acts as a technical support to the requesters
  • Ensure compliance with policies, strategies and processes.

Main responsibilities

  • In charge of the supply strategy, purchasing and replenishment, for medical devices
  • Management of a supplier portfolio diverse and international
  • In charge of the tendering and contracting
  • In charge of the replenishment depending on demand planning, availability and specifications agreed
  • Responsible for the administrative treatment of the orders
  • In charge of purchases for preventive maintenance and repairs
  • Share knowledge in the early definition of the needs with requesters and act as a technical support depending on equipment and products
  • Ensure the quality and security of the purchases
  • Assist country/regional purchasers and validate local purchases
  • Search and share market technological updates and validate new suppliers
  • Search and share knowledge on quality & norms from international regulation
  • Validate products sourcing per country (2 months/year)
  • Interface with health unit and pharmacist.

Selection requirements

  • University / master degree or equivalent in medical or pharmaceutical linked to medical devices
  • Mandatory experience of medical devices made as buyer or user (nurse)
  • Purchasing or supply chain experience expected if no purchasing degree
  • Humanitarian operational field experience or strong motivation for it
  • English and French, compulsory, German an asset, other languages appreciated

  • Global, multicultural focus, detailed knowledge of the medical context (regulations, products, environment)
  • Very good knowledge of the whole purchasing process
  • Knowledge of the supply chain and understanding of the procurement constraints
  • Customer and solution oriented, capacity to manage complex activities with various experts and to analyze the relevance of purchase orders
  • Administrative and organizational skills
  • Computer literate with proficiency in MS Excel
  • Team player, collaborative, flexible, interpersonal skills, interested to work in a multicultural environment.
  • Availability for possible field assignments following 4-year posting at headquarters.
