Purpose of the post

  • Responsible for the supply strategy (purchasing and replenishment) for biomedical equipment laboratory items and surgical instruments within the global strategic purchasing unit
  • Involved in the early definition of the needs, acts as a technical support to the requesters
  • Ensure compliance with policies, strategies and processes.

Main responsibilities

  • In charge of the supply strategy, purchasing and replenishment, for biomedical equipment laboratory items and surgical instruments
  • Management of a supplier portfolio diverse and international
  • Responsible for the tendering and contracting
  • Responsible for the replenishment depending on demand planning, availability and specifications agreed
  • Responsible for the administrative treatment of the orders
  • Purchase preventive maintenance and spare parts depending on countries
  • Share knowledge in the early definition of the needs with requesters and act as a technical support depending on equipment and products
  • Ensure the quality and security of the purchases
  • Assist country/regional regional purchasers. Visit suppliers and validate local purchases : (2 month/year)
  • Search and share market technological updates and validate new suppliers
  • Search and share knowledge on quality & norms from international and national regulation. ies, strategies and processes.

Selection requirements

  • University / master degree or equivalent in technical field :ie Biomedical engineer without experience accepted or biomedical technician with experience
  • University / master degree or equivalent in purchasing expected.
  • Purchasing experience expected, with a very good knowledge of the whole purchasing process
  • Humanitarian operational field experience or strong motivation for it
  • Experience or interest for biomedical technologies used in less advanced countries
  • Knowledge of the supply chain and understanding of the procurement constraints
  • English and French, compulsory, German an asset. Other languages appreciated.

  • Availability for possible field assignments following 4-year posting at headquarters
