Program Associate (Public Policy/Serious Games)

Please note: This is a temporary NTE 1 Year appointment with extensions based on funding availability.

This position is located in the Woodrow Wilson Center’s Science, Technology and Innovation Program (STIP). The Program’s mission is to explore the scientific and technological frontier, stimulating discovery and bringing new tools to bear on public policy challenges that emerge as science advances. For almost a decade, the program has worked to incubate and support “serious games” – the application of game technologies to public policy and social challenges. The incumbent of this position will help support STIP’s work in serious games, with an emphasis on the national budget game – Budget Hero (www.budgethero.org). The incumbent will support the updating of the budget game, the analysis and interpretation of data generated by players, and strategies to increase game usage across a wide variety of demographic groups, including high school students. The incumbent will also work to expand the Center’s use of game technologies into other areas, such as resource management, health care, environmental protection, and national security. This is a unique position that is designed to build effective bridges between the world of public policy and the gaming space. We are seeking a policy analyst/researcher who knows and understands games or game designer with a good grasp of public policy and strong analytical skills.
