The E-Collaborative for Civic Education seeks a motivated self-starter to join our team and contribute to our flagship project, the Tavaana E-Learning Institute for Iranian Civil Society.
The E-Collaborative for Civic Education’s mission is to leverage technology to promote democracy and human rights internationally. ECCE’s flagship project, Tavaana – meaning “empowered” and “capable” in Persian – is an e-learning space offering live-instruction e-courses and manuals, as well as case studies of global civic struggles, video interviews with civic leaders, translation of key resources, a democracy and human rights resource library and Internet freedom and cybersecurity resources. The Project Coordinator for classroom management will use his or her demonstrated technology skills to provide support in the administration of our live online courses and webinars, in addition to other programmatic support tasks. The Project Coordinator will have flexibility to grow with us, and we are looking for candidates with the motivation and initiative to make the position their own.
Responsibilities:
- Providing coordination and support of courses and webinars, including:
- Backstopping faculty
- Making administrative posts in the course forums
- Moderating and recording live class sessions/webinars
- Creating, editing, and uploading to the Tavaana website mp3 recordings of live class/webinar sessions
- Collecting course evaluation surveys
- Conducting, editing, and uploading to the Tavaana website text and video interviews/recorded lectures
- Uploading Persian and English website content including case studies, transcripts, library abstracts, curriculum powerpoints, etc.; acting as a “website copy-editor” to make sure the content is of the highest quality
- Supervising one or two interns each season
- Maintaining regular communication with advertisers and sending them our content
- Uploading, categorizing and organizing resource library content
- Research, writing, and administrative duties as requested
- Using demonstrated knowledge about Iran, Iranian civil society and Iranian politics to contribute ideas to project development and strategy
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred
- Minimum 2-3 years work experience
- Strong sense of ethics and impeccable attention to security issues and confidentiality of information
- Demonstrated experience and comfort with technology, including the use of website content management systems (CMS’s), HTML, Faceboook/Twitter, audio/video editing software, and online podcast management. Please specify the software you have used in your resume/cover letter. Must be comfortable learning and using new technology.
- Persian/Farsi language fluency (including reading/writing) is REQUIRED.
- Attention to detail
- Strong writing abilities
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Interest in Iran and issues of human rights and civil society is highly desirable.
