Regional Coordinator West Africa Transparency International (TI)

Transparency International (TI) is the global civil society organisation leading the fight against corruption. Through more than 90 chapters worldwide and an international secretariat in Berlin, Germany, TI raises awareness of the damaging effects of corruption and works with partners in government, business and civil society to develop and implement effective measures to tackle it.

Background

TI-S 5-year Implementation Plan sets out some ambitious new directions for the secretariat. In particular, there is an emphasis on organizing our work around the 6 Key Programmes. A key role of the Regional Department will be to spearhead and support the implementation of various components of these six Key Programmes in the region across the network of Chapters. This work will involve developing, fundraising and implementing a number of medium size multi-country regional projects echoing the objectives and approaches of the Key Programmes in the region. It will also involve identifying the specific programmatic needs from a critical mass of Chapters in the region and seeking to meet these needs through various instruments such as TI-S network initiative, key support services, key programmes, etc.

The Africa Department is looking to recruit a highly-motivated, dynamic and results-oriented professional to support the development of its project base in the region.

Overall Responsibility:

The Regional Coordinator is responsible for autonomously implementing projects aiming at strengthening TI’s presence, reputation and impact in a defined number of countries for which s/he is the primary contact. Working with the Africa Regional Director, s/he represents TI in regional institutions, supports Chapters’ work and representation at national level, monitors political developments and reputational risks, coordinates capacity development and advocacy interventions as well as ensures the implementation of the accreditation policy.
