Internship in the Water Integrity Network Secretariat

The Water Integrity Network Secretariat hosted and legally represented by Transparency International in Berlin is looking for a highly motivated intern.

The Water Integrity Network (WIN) is an action oriented coalition of individuals and organizations from all stakeholder groups that are able and willing to support the cause of increasing Water Integrity (WI) benefiting poor people in helping to prevent or reduce corruption across the water sector.

The WIN Secretariat is a lean entity relying on the expertise of its members and partners, including the International Water and Sanitation Centre (IRC), The Stockholm International Water Institute (SIWI), Transparency International (TI), the Water and Sanitation Program – Africa (WSP), the Global Water Partnership, Cap-Net and other international, regional and local organizations.

During 2009 and 2010 began scaling-up work in selected countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America. A gradual expansion is occurring with the support of partners and regional coalitions. WIN is aiming to develop a strong voice to raise awareness that corruption in the water sector is a big challenge, and that something must and can be done about it through a sector wide collective effort.

Main function: In line with the strategic approach of WIN in training up young Professionals who will acquire knowledge in the field of promoting Integrity in the Water sector, the main assignment of the intern will be to set up electronic Knowledge and Resource Centres in the areas of intervention of WIN

Starting date: 2 April 2012 (negotiable)

Duration: 6 months, full time

Department: Water Integrity Network

Remuneration: EUR 400 (according to the German labour and social security law)

Location: WIN-Secretariat based at TI-S, Berlin, Germany

Key tasks:

  • Build up electronic knowledge and Resource Centres in the areas intervention of WIN
  • Regular Update of the Website of WIN related to Capacity Building Programme
  • Conduct a survey for WIN Members on the capacity building programme and analyse results
  • Set up the electronic data base of experts – Pool of Experts and resource persons
  • Compilation of cases of Best practises for the production of Case studies
  • Assisting in the preparation of capacity building workshops
  • Logistic support to the programme implementation and WIN Team

Knowledge, experience, interests and skills:

  • Higher education with a focus on field important for the job description and water integrity
  • Applied knowledge concerning project management, information technology, and knowledge management
  • Social and intercultural skills
  • Fluency in French, English strongly recommended; Knowledge of Spanish will be an advantage as WIN’s working languages and essential for the communication with members in the respective language zones
  • Earlier exposure to integrity and governance issues and policy analysis specifically in the water sector are an advantage
  • Understanding in the work of WIN
  • Some prior office experience, good knowledge of Word applications
  • Exposure to Africa, Latin America or South Asia will be an advantage.
