Safety Superintendent Australia

We are seeking an experienced, proactive and self-motivated Safety Superintendant for our Regional Head Office in Perth. Reporting directly to the Health & Safety Manager for Development this role is responsible for providing expertise and leadership for the Barrick Safety and Health System within the region. The incumbent will provide specialist expertise in developing and coordinating various safety and health improvement projects including the introduction of key standards and audit processes while acting in the best interest of the Regional business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
  • Facilitate the development of and successful implementation of Barrick APRBU Life Saving Standards within the region.
  • Coordinate and assist in the auditing of all sites within the region against the Life Saving Standards
  • Coordinate the reporting of progress against action items raised as a result of auditing.
  • Identify “best practice” or “key learning” opportunities and effectively communicate those learning’s
  • Provide specialist coaching and development to safety and line department leaders in Visible Felt Leadership and behaviour based programs
  • Participate in corporate and regional safety and health related audits
  • Develop the integrated system linking risk assessment, standards and procedures, audit and review.
  • Advice and support to site safety and line personnel on issues relating to the Barrick Safety and Health System
  • Assist with the development and implementation of key HS projects and programs
Requirements:
  • Minimum Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety from an accredited tertiary education facility.
  • Demonstrated experience related to safety and health
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in the mining industry
  • Assertive with an ability to influence at all levels of the organisation
  • Technical knowledge of risk management concepts and techniques
  • Experience in the development and auditing of safety and health systems and practices
  • Ability to train groups of people
  • Strong written and oral communication skills as well as experience in developing technical documents such as EHS Policies, training materials, etc
The role is Perth-based with approximately 60% travel expected within Australia (WA, NSW), Papua New Guinea, Zambia and Saudi Arabia.
