Job Description
Salary £20,100 - £27,099 Plus a Market Forces Factor up to £1,505

The role

We’re looking for a highly motivated graduate with GIS and 1D, 1D/2D hydraulic river modelling and data management skills.

Your work will include flood mapping, data management, project management of surveying and hydraulic modelling contracts, flood risk analysis including culvert assessment, wave analysis and civil engineering feasibility studies.

The team

The Flood Risk Analysis team provides high quality river and coastal models which are used to produce our Flood and Hazard Maps. Our maps and flood data underpin the Flood & Coastal Risk Management function of Environment Agency Wales and provide an essential service informing our customers and the public about flood risk.

Experience/skills

We’re seeking a graduate in engineering, geography or other related subject with a proven knowledge and ability or potential ability of:

• GIS with ArcGIS and MapInfo being a distinct advantage;

• Hydraulic modelling using HecRAS and or TuFlow being a distinct advantage;

• Topographical surveying skills;

• Engineering and project management skills;

• Good understanding of Health and Safety procedure ;

Other key requirements for this job include excellent communication skills, proficiency in word, excel and database management along with a passion for analysis and problem-solving.

The starting salary will depend on experience and qualifications. For a less experienced but promising, highly motivated applicant showing the required potential to fit this role we offer extensive high quality training.
