Economist - Institute of International Finance

The Institute of International Finance is the world’s largest global association of financial institutions with over 450 members in more than 70 countries. We provide economic analysis to our members, act as a vehicle for exchanging views on global supervisory and regulatory issues, and serve as a forum for engaging the private financial community in discussions with the public sector on global financial policy issues.

The Institute currently seeks an Economist to focus on Latin America. The Economist will be responsible for writing macroeconomic analytical reports on selected emerging market countries based on information gathered through country visits, membership contacts and published statistical and information sources. He/she will also be expected to maintain databases of historical time series and forecasts for assigned countries, maintain and check databases for consistency, construct external financing and debt profiles, maintain real-time monthly data, and prepare final databases both for internal use and external circulation.

Applicants should have a Masters or PhD in Economics with strong skills in macroeconomic analysis and 3-5 years professional experience writing analytic reports on specific countries or on economic issues. Strong English writing ability is essential, along with sound quantitative, spreadsheet and database skills. Regional language skills and professional experience in the countries of the region may be given preference. Travel will be required.
