Your Tasks

You will be responsible for the development and management of wind energy projects in South Africa.

The key focus is on the electrical engineering part of the project development.

Your tasks will include:

  • Management of the entire project development process from land acquisition to commissioning with a key focus on the electrical engineering part of the project development
  • Conduction of initial assessments of potential sites considering commercial, environmental, technical and political aspects
  • Acquisition of suitable sites and negotiation of land lease contracts
  • Management of the process to carry out environmental assessments and grid connection studies
  • Work with local authorities to obtain all necessary permits, approvals and licenses for the development and construction of wind farms
  • Creation and regular updating of project status reports

Desired Skills & Experience

Position requirements

  • Our ideal candidate holds a university degree in Electrical or Civil Engineering
  • You have at least 5 years of experience in the fields of Project Management, Electrical Engineering or Technical Management, in South Africa
  • Knowledge in the field of renewable energies, preferably in wind energy, is a plus
  • You have a solid knowledge of the South African energy market
  • You are familiar with managing the specifics of the South African planning procedures and formalities, permitting requirements, grid connection as well as environmental issues
  • Assertiveness and a high degree of flexibility are essential
  • You are able to think analytically and dispose of a high team spirit
  • Intercultural understanding, hands-on-mentality and the ability to work under pressure are self-evident
  • You speak English fluently and are ideally able to communicate in Afrikaans
  • A good knowledge in MS-Office, especially MS Project, is required
  • A willingness to travel completes your profile
