In House Lawyer / Legal Counsel- IT Law Shell - Riswijk or Den Haag

We’re looking to recruit an exceptional lawyer to join a strong global team of lawyers that services Shell’s recently formed global Projects & Technology (P&T) business.

P&T manages the delivery of Shell’s major projects and drives the research and innovation to create technology solutions for the Shell group. P&T delivers differentiating technical information technology (IT) for Shell and drives research and innovation in Shell to create technology solutions for tomorrow. P&T is responsible for major project,wells delivery,safety & environment and contracting & procurement across the globe for the Shell group. P&T is one of the three major global businesses in the Shell group.

This is a fantastic entry point for an ambitious legal professional who wishes to commence/continue their in-house career within one of the largest and most complex organisations in the world.

The successful applicant will be supporting P&T’s Technical and Competitive IT function as well as Shell’s global business IT function. The role is based in Rijswijk, The Netherlands but will cover IT work globally.

You’d be expected to provide professional, timely, cost-effective and practical legal advice and support advising IT on legal issues.

Shell is at the forefront of technology development and therefore the candidate will need to be able to find legally sound but creative solutions for achieving business objectives within applicable legal constraints.

The role will involve many projects where the lawyer will be expected to provide advice to the business as their sole legal advisor but the role will also include complex projects supporting a more senior legal counsel in the P&T group.

The position requires a significant amount of liaison with other P&T legal colleagues,as well as with lawyers in other legal syndicates in Shell including our Intellectual Property Services and Export Controls teams.

Furthermore the position, as appropriate,requires liaising with Ethics and Compliance colleagues in support of IT. The role will suit an energetic lawyer keen to further develop his/her technology related legal skills and to obtain an exposure to a range of Shell's business activities.

Desired Skills & Experience

A strong academic background, law degree and/or legal professional qualification

Relevant experience in private practice or in a legal department of a major corporation.

The successful candidate should have strong IT related legal skills with a commercial legal background.

Excellent command of English language, both spoken and written along with demonstrable negotiating skills is a pre-requisite.
