IT Officer
(IT Admin, L1 L2 & L3 Helpdesk/Tech Support, Network Engineer, scripting/programming)
Under the direct supervision of the Systems Administrator (SA) the incumbent will perform a wide range of technical duties with a wide variety of technolgies (as listed below). He/She will provide complete backup to the SA when SA absent, perform other duties as assigned by the Head of the Secretariat, may be required to give occasional IT training & will be involved in recommendations of & purchasing of hardware/software upgrades and IT support services/maintenance contracts.

Incumbunt will provide complete support to, troubleshoot & perform all administrative functions to:
•Windows 2003/2008 Servers, Active Directory, Exchange, MS SQL Server
•SQL/ASP/HTML application (including web programming & SQL queries).
•VMWare, ESXi, with shared storage.
•PKI and IT security infrastructure.
•Windows XP/7 clients with Office 2010, LAN printing, PC Hardware, admin scripting.
•CISCO firewalls/routers/switches/IDS, TCP/IP, VPN, Remote Users.
•Meeting audio and presentation infrastructure.
•Laptops, mobile phones, Office phone systems.
Other skills Required:
•Spoken and written fluency in English is essential. German is an advantage.
•Effective time management & organizational skills, an eye for detail, ability to act proactively.
•Ability to follow instructions & meet deadlines, patience with end-users.
•Flexibility to handle a variety of tasks, ability & willingness to learn new skills and technologies.
•This position requires a governmental security clearance.
•Professional qualifications (e.g. MCSE/CCNA) and academic degree an advantage but equivalent expericence is preferred.
•Significant in-depth knowledge of and experience with products/technolgies listed above
•At least 8 years of relavant IT working experience, with 5 years with Microsoft server products
We offer:
•P2 (UN Salary Scale) Annual Salary completely free of Tax in Austria).Approx. starting from EUR 49,750 without dependants or EUR 53,000 (with dependants).
•Salary subject to deductions of contributions to the WA Provident Fund and Health Insurance Scheme.
•30 working days annual leave.
•Child education allowance & child support when applicable.
•Home leave travel every two years.
•Some other allowances similar to those offered by the U.N. Common System.
