Product Development Manager, Standard Bank

Job Purpose:

  • Identify new product opportunities.
  • Evaluate these new product opportunities in terms of customer needs and profitability.
  • Develop the product involving all the relevant disciplines.
  • Launch the product and manage the products performance and profitability.

Key Result Areas:

  • Active involvement within the Product and Pricing Division.
  • Facilitate and Manage projects ensuring all time lines are adhered to.
  • Manage Internal and External Relationships.
  • Product maintenance and management.

Desired Skills & Experience

Qualifications:

  • Grade 12.
  • Actuarial background preferable but not essential.
  • Relevant tertiary degree.

Experience:

  • 3-5 years or more experience in the short term insurance industry.
  • 5 years relevant underwriting insurance experience would be an advantage, specifically short term insurance.
  • Extensive knowledge of insurance products including Multi Mark III Project Management experience will be beneficial.
  • Thorough knowledge of financial services industry specifically insurance and retail banking.
  • Understanding of Insurance and banking operating systems.
  • General business knowledge and business acumen.
  • Ability to analyse Insurance Portfolio’s and to improve underwriting results.
  • Business process knowledge.
  • Project Management experience.
  • Trends and competitor analysis relevant to product cover and pricing.
  • Insurance related legislation and changes thereto.
  • Solvency Assessment and Management Processes, Procedures and Requirements.
  • Reinsurance requirements.
